To upload a file to the Fossology data-base using the graphical user interface, select Upload > From File from the main menu. Note that to perfrom an upload, you must be logged in.
The following Upload a New File screen is displayed:
There are 6 simple steps in performing the upload:
Pick a folder to store the upload in. If you don't care, use the default which has already been selected for you. The folder must already exist. If it does not, use the Organize menu to create a folder.
Select the file to upload, there is a 650MB limit on file uploads. Typical files might be compressed tar archives of sources to be analyzed.
Enter a short description of this upload. A description is optional, but is a good idea to help keep track of your uploads.
Enter an optional folder name for this upload. If you do not pick a name, the filename of the file will be used. This name will be the name of the upload folder.
Select the type of analysis desired. Fossology does not preselect them for you as you might have different needs or agents. Usually the Nomos license box is selected. License analysis is usually of interest to most users. If a standard set of agents are always run, these can be preselected in the
Admin>Users>Account Settings menu. When preselected, those boxes will always be checked when uploading from file, url or server. The preselected choices can always be changed on the upload screen if the user decides on a different set of agents. For more information on analysis agents see
FOSSology analysis agents.
Select the upload button.
You should receive a message that your upload has been scheduled.
As mentioned in How to Upload Files for Analysis uploads can take time. Check the Jobs→Queue or Jobs→MyJob to monitor your upload.
